Wiring

The wiring was the part that worried me most. I followed the directions on www.311s.org for the high-window cars. I removed the voltage regulator and used an old connector with the pins removed and tape to block off the wiring. I did the same with the plug for the old alternator. I spliced a new wire to the old wire that came from the alternator and added a 30-amp fuse.

This worked, but I was still not getting good voltage across the battery. I added an 8-gauge wire from the alt output directly to the positive terminal on the battery with a honking 40-amp fuse. Finally I had 14+ volts across the battery with the high beams on at 2500 rpm!

Zappy!
