Hot fuse

I’ve been having trouble with the running light circuit - blowing fuses and one side of the fuse holder got hot enough to melt the plastic of the fuse box.

I disconnected the battery, took apart the fuse box and soaked all the connectors in white distilled vinegar for about an hour. The contacts look like new!

The fuse clips are riveted to plates to which the wires are crimped. The rivet was not making a good connection, causing resistance and heat. I cleaned everything with a small wire brush, then soldered the fuse clip to the plate.

No more heat in the fuse box, in fact the whole car seems to like the new clean connections.

The green wire with the white stripe had a bad connection.
